Simplicity and LED solutions
LED based solutions are extremely user-friendly. A wide range of moods and atmospheres can be pre-programmed, so that the user has instant access to the right mood at just the touch of a button. Shops, for example, can change the mood of their interior to reflect the collection, the time of day, or even the weather. If it’s cold and rainy outside, the lighting can be warm and inviting. If it's a hot summer’s day, the interior can look cool and pleasant.

It is all based on a simple philosophy: understanding what people want from lighting and then fulfilling their needs.

When considering the sustainability of LEDs, the first aspect that generally springs to mind is low energy use. But there are plenty of others, including waste reduction, recyclability, the use of materials & resources and the effect on building and design practices.

In fact, LED lighting supports sustainable design in several ways. It uses less energy than most other types of lamp, lasts longer (which means less frequent replacement and therefore reduced waste), is mercury-free, and can be housed in special luminaires designed for easier disassembly and recycling.

Lighting effects

In order to harness the flexibility and power of LED, Philips has developed a number of products, each specifically designed to meet the requirements of lighting designs aiming to create a unique lighting effect. These effects include accent lighting, wall washing, grazing, contour lighting, guidance and ambience.

These are, in essence, the building blocks which can be combined together to create an overall lighting plan, which combines details and contours, background illumination and highlights.

Benefits of LED lighting

LED light sources are small and unobtrusive, easy to install, and can generally be fitted out of sight. They are extremely energy-efficient and their life is exceptionally long, cutting down both operating costs and the costs – and inconvenience – of maintenance.
